Aaron tightly gripped his shirt and very reluctantly pulled back to take a much needed breath.
He almost protested when she pulled away, eyes flying wide open.
When she finally caught her breath again, she leaned in and gently pressed her lips to his.
He gave a tired little hum, his eyes closing again as he returned the kiss.

She wiped her eyes, and slowly closed the space between them.
He gazed up at her with reddened, defeated eyes. He reached out to her, gently cupping her face with his quivering hands, and he drew her closer. He paused though, to let another sob out.
She placed her hands on his and held them there, jumping slightly when he sobbed again. “I still don’t want to go…”
He just shook his head, pulling her closer again, their lips sliding together this time.
Her arms slid around his neck, and she leaned against him. She took a moment to commit the feeling of his lips to memory, and closed her eyes.
Even his tightly sealed eyes couldn’t hold in the onslaught of tears, and he kept the kiss going, unwilling to end the last time their lips met so soon.
She wiped her eyes, and slowly closed the space between them.

“Just…Just fuck off.

“I-I know ‘m weak!” The tears came again. “M-My kids woul’ be better off without a dad who shoots up heroin instead a’ seein’ them. Aaron woul’ be better off with a man who’s acshuly ‘round fa her! How I felt is none a’ ya business!”
“I moved out because I was trying to keep the kids safe! When a junkie comes to the door, followed by another fucking dealer at three in the morning, it gets a little dangerous to be here!” She let out a little sob and hid her face. “I need you… I need you so much that it hurts…”
“They came there ‘cos a’ me.” Ray’s voice cracked for a moment. “N-No, ya don’. Stop lyin’ ta me. Ya don’ need me. I’ll leave ya some money on tha t-table ‘fore I go. Take care a’ ya self. Bye.” He turned away from her, not able to hold in another sob.
“Ray, no—” Her hands dropped to her sides, but she desperately wanted to hold him. To be held by him, at least one more time. “I wasn’t lying… I do need you.”
“No, ya don’. Ya need a m-man who’s acshuly ‘round fa ya an’ tha kids, ya need a man that don’ hit ya, ya need a man that ain’t a junkie an’ a dealer. J-Just go. I love ya. Bye.” He waved his trembling hand for her to go.
“I’m… I’m not going without another kiss.” She sighed stubbornly.
“A…A’ight. C’mere.”
